Valletta is the capital city of the Republic of Malta, its administrative and commercial heart. The whole city is a World Heritage Site. It is interesting for the tourists because of numerous attractions, such as the Museum of Archaeology with exceptional collection of prehistoric artefacts, the War Museum at Fort St. Elmo, which houses Sunday military parade, Grand Master’s Palace, and St. John’s Cathedral.

If you are eager to have a deep insight into Malta and its history, visit Cottonerra. The world “Cottonerra” (three cities) describes Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua. They are far older than the capital and became the first home to the Knights of St. John, their churches, forts and bastions. The best time to visit this region is during the Easter celebrations, when statues of the “Risen Christ” are carried throughout crowded streets.

Mdina is a fortified medieval city. It is characterized by timeless atmosphere as well as cultural and religious treasures. The sight, which is not to be missed in Mdina, is the Cathedral and its museum. The city is dotted with some amazing museums. The art connoisseurs will for sure appreciate the impressive artistic collection at the National Museum of Fine Arts or medieval Palazzo Falzon, which houses a large collection of antiques. For the history lovers Mdina for sure will be interesting because from the 12th century the city has become a home to Malta’s noble families. This ancient walled city is also famous for a mix of medieval and Baroque architecture.

The island of Gozo is more rural. It has a special nickname – the isle of Calypso. All roads at the island of Gozo lead to its capital Victoria (Rabat). The village played one of the leading roles in Malta’s history, which is reflected in rich cultural heritage. Rabat is well established as a popular tourists spot because of its archaeological and historical sites: The Roman House (Museum of Roman Antiquities), Catacombs, St. Paul’s Grotto and fine churches and monasteries. Its Citadel can be seen from almost all the island.

The small island of Comino is a paradise for the honeymoon. Being rather a small island, it draws the visitors from all over the world thanks to its picturesque Blue Lagoon. Needless to say, those who have visited the wonderful Maltese islands, will come back there again.
